This fall the LCU theater group will be showcasing Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. The showings are set for October 7th and 8th, during Family Weekend and will take place in the McDonald Moody Auditorium. LCU student Samantha Turley caught The DusterToday up on what to expect at the play next month:
Duster: What is your role in the play?
Turley: I am playing the brainless "wicked stepsister," Portia.
Duster: Who else is in the cast?
Turley: I have been blessed to be working with the lovely Stephani Whaley (Wicked Stepmother), Kayli Nelson (Wicked Stepsister, Joy), Devon Langford (The Fairy Godmother), Kyle Bullock (The King), Christina Plank (The Queen), Nick Clifton (The Prince), Caleb Blakeney (The Herald), and the fabulous Sarah Anderson (Cinderella).
Duster: What is your favorite part about this year's choice of Cinderella?
Turley: I think that the best of Cinderella is that it's ... Cinderella! It is a classic fairy tale that everyone knows and loves because it is all about dreaming the impossible and knowing that "impossible things are happening everyday!"
Duster: Are you a big fairy tale fan?
Turley: I am a huge fairy tale fan! I especially enjoy comparing the versions of fairy tales that I grew up with (compared to) the original renditions. I recently learned that in the earliest story of Cinderella the stepsisters cut off their toes and ankles just to make sure that they would fit their feet in Cinderella's shoe!
Duster: Is it going to be a musical?
Turley: Of course, it is going to be a musical! We are doing the original version that Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote, so you know it has to be a show worth seeing.

Cinderella Coming Soon
Lubbock Christian University is preparing for its first drama performance of the year.
