As the summer gets set to begin and schools across the west Texas and eastern New Mexico areas dismiss, camp season is set to begin. For Lubbock Christian University there are many camp opportunities that are available, but one camp location that involves students, faculty and staff of LCU through the summer is Pine Springs Camp.

Pine Springs Camp is owned and operated by Lubbock Christian University. Pine Springs is a non-profit organization funded by camper fees and donations of individuals and churches. While nestled in the mountains outside Sacramento, NM the always growing facilities and hired staff help serve young people year after year. Counselors are carefully chosen each year from the LCU student body. Pine Springs Camp seeks college kids who actively pursue Jesus in their own lives, as well embodying the desire to share His good news.

"Pine Springs is such a unique camp because each week is different," said recent LCU graduate and Director of Counselors and Summer Camp Manager, Katie Capps. "Each week there is a different director that has their own curriculum and comes and runs the camp. The nice thing is that we are not doing the same lessons over each week."

Rick De'Vore serves as the Operations Manager and Kitchen Manager. He, along with Capps, plays a huge role in the behind the scenes work and keeps the camp in good condition. The Summer Staff also includes 12 counselors (Andrew Hettick, Nolan Rutherford, Justin Ellison, Chris Severs, Jonathan Dansby, Weston Wyle, Savannah Carolus, Leah Price, Jessica Kissinger, Bethany Kunkel, Erin Brady and Kimberlin Johnson), five kitchen staff (Jesse Smith, John Anchondo, Kailey Rutherford, Ellen Moreno-Head Cook and Ali Ernst), one video guy (Nathan Richardson) and one maintenance guy (NA).

"The entire staff works together as a team to serve the campers and staff each week," said Capps. "Each of our staff members come from LCU. Pine Springs serves as a great tool to inform older campers about LCU and possibly attending in the fall."
