Each week we'll take a brief look at activities of interest that will be taking place on campus for the next few days.

The Lady Chap volleyball squad hosts their first-ever Heartland Conference contest on Wednesday.

MONDAY (9/9):

Fall Vocation Initiative - The kick-off event of the fall Vocation Initiative will take place at 7:00 pm in the Baker Conference Center. Dr. Daryl Tippens of Pepperdine University will speak on the topic of what vocation is and why the study of vocation is important. You are invited to attend and Spiritual Life Credits will be awarded!

Catacombs Tonight – Tonight at 9:00 pm, Texas Tech University Memorial Circle will be the location and all students are invited to attend the first Catacombs of the semester. A time of worship for all students, lots of singing, time of prayer and scripture readings will be part of the fellowship you will enjoy. A van will be available to provide a ride for those wishing to attend and it will depart the Katie Rogers Residence Hall at 8:40 pm.

TUESDAY (9/10):

Flag Football Meeting - A meeting will be held for flag football intramurals at 6:00 pm in the Rec Center. Your team must have at least one representative in order to sign up for the upcoming season and there are Men's, Women's and Co-Rec divisions available.

Rush Process Explained - If you are interested in participating in the Social Club rush process, then you will want to attend an informational meeting at 7:00 pm in the Baker Conference Center.


Opener for New Conference - At 4:00 pm the first ever Heartland Conference athletic contest involving a LCU athletic team will take place in the Rip Griffin Center as coach Jennifer Lawrence's volleyball squad faces Texas A&M International. You can be a part of this historic contest and help lead the Lady Chaps to victory as they begin their first season in the new conference. There will be prizes and a limited number of t-shirts will also be given away.

Alpha Chi Devo in the Rip Griffin Center - LCU Athletics will be providing pizza in the RIP at 8:45 pm and you are invited to attend the Alpha Chi Devo. Lots of fun, food and fellowship will be on tap and Dean of Students, Josh Stephens, will be the featured speaker.

FRIDAY (9/13):

Zeta Gamma Slip-n-Slide – The ladies of the Zeta Gamma social club will host their Slip-n-Slide mixer at 4:00 pm and if you are planning on rushing they would love to see you there. All the fun will take place between the Katie Rogers Residence Hall and the Courtyards. You are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and be ready to have a blast!

Movie Night: “Man of Steel” – A special showing of this summer's hit "Man of Steel" will be featured at 9:00 pm in the Rec Center. This film will not be released to the public until October, so take advantage of this opportunity to see it before others get the chance. Bring your pillows, blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the comfort of movie night in the Rec.
