On campus internet radio station officially introduced
It's new, it's hip, it's ChapRadio! The official ribbon cutting of Lubbock Christian University's brand new internet radio station was held on Wednesday, October 9th.. LCU held a press conference before the ribbon cutting, featuring speakers such as Shawn Hughes (Professor of Mass Media Communications), LCU president Tim Perrin, former president and current communications professor, Dr. Steve Lemley, and Lubbock Chamber of Commerce member David Putman.
"As the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, it is our job to retain students as employees," Putman said. ""LCU is integral to this."
ChapRadio gives student and faculty the opportunity to experiment with a new format of media. From music shows to talk shows, ChapRadio has a variety of entertainment. Most of all, ChapRadio gives students the chance to build skills with radio production.
"LCU has always been about students," president Perrin said. "We exist to give students the opportunities to learn in and outside the classroom."
ChapRadio is currently running over 50 radio shows each week, produced by students of all majors and backgrounds, allowing anyone interested in broadcasting hands-on announcing experience.
"We are very proud of ChapRadio. This is the culmination of years of work and planning to get to this grand opening," Hughes said. "It is very rewarding to see students realize the power of radio and mass communications in a very personal, first-hand way when they do a live show on the air.".
