As a preview of the upcoming presentation of "The Real Master Follies" we'll be taking a look at the eight clubs and their respective shows as they get set for their Feb. 8th and 9th performances.

Well, it is certainly no secret:  Master Follies is upon us. The social clubs of Lubbock Christian University have been diligently learning and improving their acts with seemingly endless rehearsals nearly every night of the week. Students and alumni are in for a pleasant surprise this year with Kyodai. The social club received an exceptionally large number of pledges this school year, nearly doubling their members and certainly contributing to their stage presence!

Andrew Henderson, Kyodai Club Director and senior youth and family ministry major, revealed that the theme of this year's act is a mixture of "Megamind meets Dr. Horrible." With a rock-solid concept under their belt, Kyodai members are also placing a strong emphasis on the musical aspect.

"I will say we have a bunch of newer stuff, but we have some older classics in our show," said Andrew, hesitant to divulge too much information concerning the musical selections. However, the club is confident that this facet of their show will contribute to its entertainment value. Henderson, himself, has a background in band, and he continued to express his gratefulness for Assistant Kyodai Club Directors Daniel Whitefield, Zachary Willis, and Caleb Blakeney, all members of the Praise Choir and strong contributors to the club's vocal abilities. Blakeney has proven to be of significant assistance due to his memberships in Chamber Singers and Best Friends and his diligent studies in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in music education.

Kyodai club members are entering Follies with positive attitudes and hoping for the best. Although winning an award would be great, Henderson explained that there is more to this tradition than a trophy. "One thing I've always been proud about Kyodai is that no matter the outcome, we always try to encourage and support the other clubs."

Show times for Follies are February 8th at 7:30 pm and February 9th at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The Saturday night performance is sold out, but tickets to the other two show times are available at www.LCU.edu/tickets.
