Getting to Know: Anna Schoop
Anna Schoop, a 20-year old student from Bremen, Germany, began her journey at Lubbock Christian University a year ago to play golf and study abroad. She chose LCU over 11 other schools here in the United States, and she hasn’t experienced one regret it for that decision over the past year. Besides playing golf for the Lady Chaps, she is toward her bachelor’s in sport management.

Anna Schoop is eager for the new golf season to begin for the Lady Chaps.
We were able to visit with Anna following something she really enjoys and that is chapel each day.
What is the biggest difference between Bremen and Lubbock? The size is the biggest difference. Everybody here tells me that Lubbock is so small, but for me it's big, because everything is so far apart. In Bremen I was able to walk to most things, while here you need a car in order to get around.
What food do you like the most in the USA?Chicken fried chicken, and the steaks are great.
What did you dislike the most when you came to Lubbock the first time? The accent - my coach talked to me and I didn't understand a thing he said.
What do you like the most here? I am really happy here. It's great to know a different culture, I’ve made a lot of friends and I still have three years to go. I can't wait until the season starts.
Why did you choose LCU over all the others schools? I never went here before, but with the phone calls and the emails they made it sound like a family, and that's what I like the most here, the small community you have here that lets you know everybody here.
Did you ever travel around the US and see sites like the Grand Canyon or things like that? I would like to travel, but I have tournaments all the time, so the only places I’ve seen, are those where we’ve had tournaments to play.
What would you like to do in the future? I would like to strengthen the relationship with my friends and my coach.
What did you do in the summer? In the summer I went home to Germany. I am on a golf team over there and I have to play the tournaments over there to be able to stay on the team. I also did an internship to make some money. My family wanted to see me too, so it was better for me to go to Germany.
Thanks for your time, Anna, and good luck in the coming season and the school year.
